Keysoe Competition Centre Gets Thumbs Up From Robert Whitaker
08/12/2016 11:01:16

In his Horse & Hound magazine column last week (1 December 2016) top showjumper Robert Whitaker was full of praise for the The College Equestrian Centre in Keysoe, North Beds having competed himself at the CSI2* show there at the end of November.

“The best thing about this venue is that every time we come back, it has improved again.”

He remarked upon the improved stables, now under cover and the doubling in size of the warm up indoor arena.

“And being able to use the huge all weather arena next to the indoor building is brilliant.  No one could complain that they didn’t have space or time to work their horses in properly.

“Overall it has been a great show.  There were classes for everyone and the team here are trying very hard to get everything right.  They deserve our support.”

And, it was another member of the famous Whitaker showjumping dynasty, Michael Whitaker who triumphed in the show’s flagship class – the world ranking grand prix.  He took top honours in the 13 strong jump off, with Jayne Bean’s 10 year old home-bred mare JB’S Hot Stuff.

“She was very good today and she’s getting better as she gets more experience,” commented Michael who reported that he will be taking her to Olympia in December, where Martin Collins also provides an Ecotrack equestrian surface.

Venue owner, Simon Bates, was delighted with the Show:  “We’re not a posh international show with hospitality and passes to go everywhere.  We’re running this for the riders and if their owners come and watch.  I hope they enjoy it too,” he said.

All about Keysoe’s equestrian surfaces

The Martin Collins Ecotrack surface now in the indoor arenas at Keysoe is provides an international level competition surface.  It is  a combination of CLOPF fibre, high-grade industrial silica sand and PVC, which is carefully weighed and blended with a wax coating to offer different variants suitable for different disciplines.

It is the choice of some of the world’s most prestigious sporting venues, including Olympia, because it provides a multi-purpose solution which the competitors trust and which can withstand the intensive use by different equestrian disciplines and displays.
