Show Jumping Surfaces
Show Jumping Surfaces
Our range of synthetic surfaces have been specifically created to be safe, to perform and to last. Whether you train to compete or simply enjoy jumping at home, it is important to select a show jumping surface which lets you achieve your potential.

Martin Collins Show Surface at OlympiaWe understand that, when show jumping, the rider must balance the need for the horse to go as fast as possible and turn tightly, while still leaving the poles in their cups. Our show jumping surfaces are therefore designed to:

  • Be more "open" (than a dressage surface) to allow greater penetration of the hoof
  • Provide sufficient support to facilitate take off
  • Provide controlled shear on landing to prevent jar

Durable synthetic surfaces from Martin CollinsMartin Collins arenas are precision-installed.

  • Our surfaces are individually blended to your requirements and geographic location.
  • With correct maintenance, we fully expect our surfaces to perform consistently for many years.  Some of our customers with heavy-use surfaces, are still getting great performance  more than 15 years after initial installation.
  • Martin Collins Safe Equine SurfaceWe understand:

  • how tough show jumping can be on your horses’ joints and
  • how important your arena surface is to keeping your horses sound and fit.
  • That's why our show jumping surfaces are specifically designed to support the limb and hoof on take-off and landing, to avoid jarring.

Identifying your show jumping surfaces needs

The level you train or compete at, along with your horses' ages, breeding and paces will determine your ideal surface and show jumping arena size.Michael Whitaker at Windsor on a Martin Collins Surface

      Arena Sizes:

      • A  20 x 40m arena - really the minimum workable area for jumping
      • Adding an extra 5m -10m to the width of your arena allows you to build a short course and greatly increases the usability of your arena.
      • Square arenas (40 x 40 or 50 x 50) are recommended  if you compete in affiliated competitions or professionally.

      Surface options:

      • Ecotrack- for those consistently jumping tracks of 1.30m or more and for riders with larger horses.
      • Activ-track - will ride a little softer and could require additional maintenance.
      • CLOPF - can be added to an existing surface to improve stability, energy return and moisture rentention.

Show Jumping clients who trust us

Ben Maher on Martin Collins Ecotrack"Many surfaces abroad lack the bounce and stability of a waxed surface, and without that, you can often undermine a horse's confidence. Show jumpers would describe a 'dead' surface as one when you don't get a push off the floor. With Ecotrack, you can place a horse better, the ground is level, they get the same feeling over a jump and the horse can do a better job".

Netley Hall has an Activ-track outdoor arena.

"We are delighted with our Martin Collins Activ-track surface. It requires minimal maintenance and throughout the winter even when the temperatures plummeted to minus 5 or worse we were still able to keep exercising Olivia's ponies so she and they were fully prepared for the start of the Hickstead qualifiers. Without the advantage of having this surface it is unlikely that Olivia would have been able to qualify all 3 of her rides for Hickstead in the first few qualifiers of the year."
